When one teaches two learn

15. 09. 2017 - By Nirvana Fitness
I started my yoga practice after graduated from university in 2014, with the aim of losing weight and to regain health. I lost around 10 kg after a few months of yoga routines and this is one of the reasons which kept me going.

With years of practice, I started to strive for more in yoga, physically and mentally. Until my yoga teacher, Mayyer Loh brought me into Nirvana®. I am honored to have met one of the creators, Katja Zupan, who introduced me to a whole new fitness paradigm.

With no former experience in teaching, being a Nirvana® instructor is a total different and eye-opening experience to me. I get to learn new insights about Nirvana®, gain experiences and confidence in teaching as I come across with people from different walks of life.

I feel loved when my clients gave positive and motivating feedback. They like Nirvana® and would love to come back for more classes with me. I was especially touched when I got to know that one of my client who previously disliked any forms of exercises, learned to love and appreciate Nirvana®.

I always remind my clients to not only to listen to my instructions but also to listen to their own body and know their own limits. This helps to minimize the chances of injuries and allows clients to progress at their own pace in Nirvana®.

I encourage my clients to stay on after each Nirvana® session to discuss and share more about the breathing, posture and movement.

This allows them to have better focus in the following classes. I feel proud when I noticed significant improvement in the posture of some clients after several sessions.

I once came across this advice, "To always remember ones feeling as a beginner.” We should treat every class as our very first class and share with all our heart despite our years of experience.

Best wishes,
NIN Ho Mun Yee
